How it all started !!!
Our Fish Room
The BEGINNING….
My love for Bettas started many many many years ago. I found these Siamese fighter fish, as i knew them, the most fascinating fish at our local pet stores. At the time Veiltails (VT) where the only tail type available but the elegance and beauty of them always immediately attracted me to the Betta corner. I never got down to actually buying one and then one day was gifted the most beautiful blue VT boy.
And so my addiction for collecting Bettas started….
My collection started getting bigger and eventually my hubby gave me a corner section of the garage. We had a racking system built which housed around 40 bettas and thats when I started researching ALOT about breeding them.
My first attempt at breeding was crossing my VT to a crown tail female and was an absolute nightmare but its were I found and corrected so many mistakes in my breeding strategy.
I needed to do more research before trying again and found things that worked for other international breeders but didn’t necessarily work for me. So, I tweaked a lot of their strategies and made it work my way.
Later on I got a lot better at it and after expanding the collection even further my hubby decided that i need a bigger room.

The fish room construction (6m x 4m) started in June 2018 and was completed mid August 2018.
Currently in the fish room we have more than 100 tanks:
- 64 single housing tanks for adult Bettas
- 16 Grow out tanks
- 12 Breeder tanks
- 4 Shrimp tanks
- 4 Cichlid tanks
- 2 Angel fish tanks
- and more
Current breeding projects:
- Bettas
- Shrimp
- Dwarf cichlids (Ramirezi and Apistogramma)
- Angelfish
- Otocinclus catfish
- Corydoras
- Sparkling gourami
My main focus and passion remains with Betta breeding and the different tail types and color variations.
Tail types and color variations I’m currently working on are:
- Halfmoon koi
- Halfmoon fancy
- Halfmoon solid color
- Plakat koi
- Plakat dumbo ear
- Plakat solid color
- Plakat fancy
- Crowntail will be added soon
After a few years, October 2022, we decided we need to revamp and cater for more Bettas to grow out.
We now hold individual jars for 600 Bettas, 12 breeding tanks and 7 grow out tanks in the one fish room and over 50 grow out tanks in the second fish room. We also have dedicated Neocaridina shrimp breeding tanks as part of our collection which include Snowball, Cherry, Bloody Mary, Blue Dream, Green Jade, Orange Sunkist and Chocolate.
The start of our revamp:
Our Employee Thomas busy securing shelves.
All jars hold 2L of water and get water changes 3 times a week.
The sides are holding sections for boys and the center column for the ladies. Our breeding section has been moved to the back row. We have a central heating system that heats the room and keeps the individual jars between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. Our breeding tanks and grow out tanks have heaters.
Fish room 2:
Once the betta fry have grown to a month old they get transferred to the second fish room into bigger tanks.
From here there can only be great things ahead.
