Marimo moss are commonly known as living pets which prefer cooler water and good water quality. They are easy plants and can survive with a minimal light source to live healthy and maintain their green colour. They generate oxygen which releases bubbles and can cause them to float. Don’t be alarmed as this is normal and indicates a healthy plant.
Water changes should be performed weekly or every two weeks. They can be kept in jars and do well with shrimp and other small fish species. when performing a water change gently squeeze your moss ball to flush out any particles of dirt that may be trapped. If your moss ball is changing colour it is recommended to do a water change and add salt (5% of water volume) to a jar with your moss ball for 2 weeks.
Moss balls can live without water for upto one month however, it is not recommended to do so for any extended period of time.
